Adele set for Grammys performance

In a move sure to lift ratings for the performance-centered Grammy Awards, Adele will make her first appearance since vocal cord surgery last fall on the Feb. 12 music kudocast. British singer -- who is up for six awards this year, including album, record and song of the year -- was forced to cancel a sold-out U.S. tour last year due to vocal issues. In the interim, her sophomore release "21" became the biggest-selling album of the year; it has shifted 6.1 million copies domestically and remains at No. 1 this week after almost a year on the chart. Adele's addition adds punch to a glittering lineup for the CBS show. Previously announced performers include Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson, Glen Campbell with the Band Perry and Blake Shelton, Coldplay and Rihanna, Foo Fighters, Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and 2012 MusiCares person of the year Paul McCartney. LL Cool J will host. The Grammys will air live from Staples Center. Contact the Variety newsroom at news@variety.com
