The prize item is a pair of ruby slippers used in the movie. These are probably the best preserved of the four remaining pairs and were used for close-up shots of Dorothy's feet. The slippers have a presale minimum estimate of $2,000,000. The buyer of the slippers can pair them with one of the blue and white gingham pinafore dress worn by Judy Garland in the movie, which has an estimated sale price of $200,000-$300,000. Bert Lahr, who played the Cowardly Lion, probably wore this costume, which is made of real lion skin, in the scene where he first meets Dorothy on the Yellow Brick Road. It is expected to sell for more than $2,000,000 as well. The auction also features a trove of rare Marilyn Monroe merchandise, including her invitation to the 1962 birthday party at Madison Square Garden for President John F. Kennedy where she serenaded him with "Happy Birthday' ($40,000-$60,000) and a nude painting of the star by Earl Moran ($70,000-$90,000). The highlight of the Monroe memorabilia is probably the 3.5 carat platinum and diamond wedding band baseball great Joe DiMaggio gave her at their wedding on January 14, 1954. The ring has an estimated sale price of $500,000-$700,000. PHOTOS: The Making of 'My Week With Marilyn The auction also features a rare set of John Wayne's personal correspondence from the peak of his career from the 1940s through the 1960s ($20,000-$30,000) and Jack Lemmon's personal collection of 62 leather-bound scripts from movies he worked on during his career ($2,000-$3,000 for the set). Among the more recent memorabilia attracting attention is a DeLorean time machine used in Back to the Future III expected to sell for at least $400,000, a couch from Central Perk, the Friends coffee shop, valued at an affordable $4,00-$6,000 and a rare phaser prop from the original Star Trek TV series estimated at $30,000-$50,000.
